Harlow Carr

Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium'

Review Notes: This beautiful maple makes a spreading, bushy tree or large shrub with deeply lobed mid-green leaves that turn deep red early in the autumn. It also produces masses of small, red-purple flowers which are followed by winged seed-heads. Like most maples, it enjoys a sunny or partially shaded spot that is protected from cold winds. The soil should be moist but well-drained.
Height: 500cm, Spread: 600cm.
The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
